A regular meeting of the “Green Energy Space” Working Group, established to ensure the implementation of the measures envisaged in the “Socio-Economic Development Strategy of the Republic of Azerbaijan for 2022–2026” and to coordinate the activities of the relevant state institutions, was held in a hybrid format.
Chairing the meeting, Deputy Minister of Energy Samir Valiyev emphasized the importance of implementing the Strategy approved by the President of the Republic of Azerbaijan to achieve the goals set in accordance with the “Azerbaijan 2030: National Priorities for Socio-Economic Development,” endorsed by the Presidential Decree dated February 2, 2021. He highlighted the significance of the “Green Energy Space” objective in terms of energy security, the use of renewable energy sources, energy efficiency, the application of green technologies, and combating climate change. Referring to the initial draft implementation report of the Strategy, he noted that the results achieved during the reporting period were satisfactory and drew attention to the issues on the meeting agenda.
Subsequently, Ramil Huseyn, Deputy Executive Director of the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication (CAERC) and Deputy Chair of the Working Group, presented the report on the implementation of measures related to the “Green Energy Space” objective for the first half of 2025. The report reviewed the work done, the results of monitoring and evaluation, implementation indicators for target objectives, as well as existing challenges and recommendations.
Təranə Salifova, Advisor to the Executive Director of CAERC, and Gültac Ahmadzade-Tapdiqzade, specialist of the Monitoring and Evaluation Department, answered the questions raised by members of the Working Group.
The meeting continued with discussions on the preliminary monitoring and evaluation report, during which members shared their opinions and suggestions. The current state of ongoing activities and the next steps were reviewed, and relevant instructions were given to ensure the full and effective implementation of the measures in the upcoming period.
It should be noted that, along with the Ministry of Energy and the Center for Analysis of Economic Reforms and Communication, the “Green Energy Space” Working Group also includes representatives from the Ministries of Economy; Ecology and Natural Resources; Agriculture; Digital Development and Transport; Finance; Emergency Situations, as well as from the State Statistics Committee, State Committee on Urban Planning and Architecture, State Customs Committee, SOCAR, Central Bank, Azerbaijan Investment Holding, Azerbaijan National Academy of Sciences, Azerbaijan State Water Resources Agency, Azerenergy JSC, Azerishiq JSC, and Azeristiliktechizat JSC.
